Dilophosaurus was a large agile bipedal dinosaur. Its head was ornamented with two thin bone crests which seem to have been larger in one sex than the other. At about 23 ft in length, with a weight of about 880 lb, Dilophosaurus was one of the earliest large predatory dinosaurs, though it was smaller than some later theropods. A carnivorous creature from the Lower Jurassic Period, whose name means “Lizard with Two Crests”.
